A Level (16+) Resources

Return to A Level (16+) Menu

All the pages indexed below have outstanding resources for age 16+. These will help your students develop mathematically wherever they are learning and whatever examinations they are taking! We can look to Malcolm Swan’s Improving Learning in Mathematics which discusses effective teaching so well to help us think about just what makes a quality resource for learning.
Standards Unit

For UK Advanced Level Mathematics all examination boards have common content.
The first set of pages here are focused on resources for teaching:

Advanced Level Starters

Part of the Starters library includes this collection of A Level starters.

Transum Mathematics

Sources of past paper questions and mark schemes.

On Doctor Oliver Mathematics you will find an extensive library of worked examples, access these via examination papers or choose questions by topic. It is so valuable that the question and solution are presented together. At A level you will find both Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

Doctor Oliver Mathematics

Note also the sections on Proof for A Level Maths and also Further Maths, and the definitions for Year 12.

Westie’s Workshop

PixiMath – A Level Baseline Intervention Booklet

From Pixi Maths see the A Level baseline assessment. This very useful set of resources includes solutions as well as the baseline test, a question-level analysis and also an intervention booklet and solutions.

With any change of specification, I have always found any documents on summaries of the changes and also mapping documents very useful indeed. Clearly, much of the content is still on the new specifications and resources we already have can be used again. The exam board pages below give more information on specifications and sample materials. The links above this paragraph are focused on resources for teaching.

MEI – Ritangle

MEI’s Ritangle competition – do have a look at the questions from previous years (scroll down), full solutions are provided, these are a great source of questions for students studying A level Mathematics, the International Baccalaureate, Scottish Highers, or any qualifications with equivalent content.
