A particularly valuable document is AQA’s commentary on their specimen papers, in which Dan Rogan, Chair of Examiners, explains how the specimen papers were created and how mark schemes will be applied.
Note the new and very clear mark schemes which include a typical solution on the right-hand side. These will be very helpful for students. The document all includes information on how the use of calculators will be assessed.
For each of the AQA Mathematics AS and A Level specifications, Planning, Teaching and Assessment Resources are available. First, choose the specification you require.
Checking Teaching Resources we see that AQA has provided A Level route maps. These are customisable schemes of work where you can drag and drop the topics into your chosen order and adjust the teaching times. For each topic, clear specification references are provided. An AS and A-level Maths route map is available without logging in to All About Maths. You need to be registered with All About Maths to access further documents. All About Maths includes an excellent library of teaching resources including Topic Tests for both Maths and Further Maths. Find out how to register.
I have always found the GCSE route maps very helpful indeed.
Something I have used a great deal with my GCSE teaching for both the current and previous specifications is AQA’s detailed and very clear teaching guidance.
Complete Teaching Guidance documents are available for Mathematics and Further Mathematics. You need to be registered with All About Maths to access these documents. Find out how to register
We can also see Command Words which reminds me a little of the Exam Terminology document so useful at GCSE. There seem to be versions of this document in various places, I believe the first time I used it was back in the days when there were more Examination Boards, this may well have come from the then Southern Examining Group!
