Calculator Crunch

MEI’s Calculator Crunch will run this week, 24th – 28th June.

MEI Calculator Crunch 2023

Calculator Crunch is designed to provide extra practice for Year 6 and 7 pupils in key areas of the maths curriculum. For Year 6 pupils the resources help to develop confidence with calculators in preparation for secondary school maths.

Calculator Crunch 2024 runs from 24 to 28 June. Each morning, a new challenge involving the use of a basic or scientific will be released.

All the Calculator Crunch resources (from 2019) are available and are great for Year 6 – Year 7 transition. See also MEI’s Get Calculating! lesson plans.

Further calculator resources …

Claire Clay has created some really clear resources on using a calculator. See her site, Clay’s Contemplations, for her blog posts and calculator resources. Her calculator cards are very attractively presented and easy to follow.

She has also created a PowerPoint to show the essential calculator buttons for both the fx-83GT X and fx-83GT.

The Calculator Guide has very helpful videos for the new Casio fx-991CW Classwiz Calculator. See Casio ClassWiz 2023 for further information on the new Casio calculators.

Dr Frost Maths

On Dr Frost Maths, under Tools, see Virtual Calculators; this collection includes lesson resources.

A resource I have used a great deal for solving quadratic equations using the formula is this calculator from Math Warehouse, which clearly shows how to use the quadratic formula. Further online calculators can be found on these pages.
